# Shopify: Authentication Guide (Legacy Custom Apps)
## In this article, we explain how to create and authenticate your Shopify (Legacy Custom Apps) credentials for Google Sheets, Looker Studio and Dataslayer's web destinations.
#### To generate queries from the Shopify platform, you must first connect Dataslayer to your Shopify account. This process involves creating new Shopify credentials, which can be accomplished by following the steps outlined below:
To establish a connection between Dataslayer and Shopify, you will need either a **Shopify store owner account** or a **Shopify staff account**.
1\. Go to [https://accounts.shopify.com/store-login](https://accounts.shopify.com/store-login) and proceed with your login.
2\. In the navigation menu, locate and select **App and sales channel settings**.
3\. Select the **Develop App** button to proceed.
4\. At this stage, you'll need to set up a **new app**. Click on the Create an app button and enter a name for your app. Once ready, click on "**Create app**".
5\. Navigate to the **API Credentials** section within your newly created app.
6\. To successfully connect Dataslayer, you will need to obtain the **Access token**. To do this, click on the **Configure Admin API scopes** option.
7\. Here,you have to accept *at least* these required scopes:
- Read\_products.
- Read\_customers.
- Read\_orders.
- Read\_fulfillments.
- Read\_analytics.
- Read\_inventory.
8\. Scroll down and once you click on **Save**, a notification will appear confirming that your changes have been successfully saved.
9\. Next, navigate to the **API Credentials** section and select the **Install App**. This action will trigger a pop-up window where you will need to click on the "**Install**" button to proceed.
10\. At this point, you will need to **display the API access token** and **copy it** for use in the Dataslayer Hub section.
**Now you have the information needed to make the connection between Shopify and Dataslayer!**
11\. Login into [Dataslayer.ai](http://dataslayer.ai/) and look for the Hub Account section.
12\. Once in there, look for the **Shopify** connector.
13\. Click on "**+ Add new account**".

14\. Carefully paste your **Admin API access token** into the designated field and input the **name of your Shopify store**.

**When specifying your Shopify store name, make sure to use the exact format required: simply input "MYSTORE" without any additional prefixes or suffixes. Avoid using variations like "https://MYSTORE.myshopify.com" or similar formats, as this may lead to [connection issues](https://support.dataslayer.ai/why-cant-i-login-to-shopify?hsLang=en).**
15\. With both fields completed, click on **Connect**.

#### Done! The connection has been established and the account can be selected in the Hub Accounts section when building a report.
**If you want to pull data for multiple Shopify stores, you will need to repeat the authentication process for each one.**
