      How Do I Connect Dataslayer MCP to Claude?

      Step-by-step guide to connect Claude to Dataslayer MCP. Learn how to set up Anthropic's Claude Pro or Team to query your marketing data using natural language across web and mobile.

      Claude has a unique advantage when working with MCP: Anthropic, the company behind Claude, created the Model Context Protocol. This means Claude was designed from the ground up with MCP integration in mind, often resulting in smoother performance, better error handling, and more reliable connections compared to other AI providers.

      Requirements

      Before you start, make sure you have:

      • Claude Pro or Team subscription — MCP features are not available on the free Claude tier
      • Active Dataslayer account with at least one connected data source
      • Web or desktop access for initial setup — You'll configure the connection on Claude.ai web or Claude Desktop, which then syncs automatically to your mobile app

      MCP support in Claude is available for paid subscribers and works seamlessly across desktop and mobile platforms.

      Step-by-Step Instructions

      1. Access MCP Settings

      • Log in to Claude.ai on your web browser or open Claude Desktop
      • Click on your profile icon or menu
      • Select Settings
      • Navigate to Connectors 

      2. Get Your Dataslayer MCP Server URL

      Before connecting, you need to retrieve your unique MCP server URL from Dataslayer:

      • Log in to your Dataslayer account
      • Go to AI → Dataslayer MCP  
      • Click on Connect with Claude
      • Copy your unique server URL (this URL is personal and unique to your account)

      3. Add Dataslayer MCP Server

      Back in Claude's settings:

      • Click Add Custom Connector
      • Enter the following details:
        • Server Name: Enter "Dataslayer" (or any name you prefer)
        • Server URL: Paste the unique URL you copied from your Dataslayer account
      • Click Add

      4. Confirm Connection

      Once connected:

      • Claude will confirm the connection is active
      • You should see "Dataslayer" listed in your connected MCP servers
      • The status should show as "Active" or "Connected"

      5. Test Your Connection

      Start a new conversation in Claude and try a simple query:

      "Using Dataslayer, show me my Google Ads spend for the last 7 days"

      If everything is set up correctly, Claude will fetch your data and display the results.

      Using MCP on Mobile

      After connecting on web or desktop, your MCP server is available on the Claude mobile app (iOS/Android):

      • Select Settings
      • Navigate to Connectors 
      • Select Dataslayer Connector and sign in
      • Allow access to your workspace by clicking Allow
      • Done! Now you can use it in a new chat

      You cannot add custom MCP servers directly from the Claude mobile app. All MCP server connections must be configured via the Claude web or the Claude Desktop first.

      Best Practices for Claude MCP

      To get the most accurate and useful results, structure your prompts clearly:

      Be specific about what you want:

      • Mention which metrics and dimensions you need
      • Include date ranges and any filters
      • Specify the data source if you have multiple accounts connected

      Example of a well-structured prompt:

      "Using Dataslayer MCP, retrieve my Meta Ads data for account 'Account Name' 
      for September 2025. Show me spend, impressions, CPC, and conversions 
      grouped by campaign name, sorted by conversions from highest to lowest."

      Instead of a vague prompt:

      "Show me my Meta data"
      The more explicit you are, the better Claude can understand exactly which data to retrieve and how to format it.

      What Happens Next?

      Once connected, Claude can:

      • Query any data source connected to your Dataslayer account
      • Provide detailed analysis with explanations of trends and patterns
      • Generate comprehensive reports, charts, and dashboards as artifacts
      • Answer follow-up questions and perform multi-step analysis
      • Create presentations and summaries based on your actual data

      You don't need to reconnect each time. The integration remains active as long as both your Claude subscription and Dataslayer account are current, and syncs automatically across all your devices.

      Managing Your Connection

      To disconnect Claude:

      • Go to Claude Settings → Connectors
      • Find Dataslayer in your connected servers
      • Click on the three points and select Disconnect or Remove

      To reconnect: Follow the same setup process again.

      Updating your connection: If you need to update your server URL (for example, if you regenerate your MCP credentials in Dataslayer), simply remove the old connection and add it again with the new URL.

      Authentication and Security

      Claude connects to Dataslayer through a secure, encrypted connection using the Model Context Protocol. Your data credentials are never shared with Anthropic directly, and all queries are processed through Dataslayer's secure infrastructure. Your unique MCP URL is personal to your account and should not be shared with others.
