How to create a query in Dataslayer for Google Cloud Storage

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up your Dataslayer query for Google Cloud Storage (GCS) in just a few steps. It'll help you automate your marketing data transfers, save time, and keep all your reports centralized.

Centralizing marketing data is critical for accurate reporting and analysis. Instead of downloading reports from each platform manually, Dataslayer for Google Cloud Storage (GCS) allows you to automate data transfers securely and efficiently. This guide walks you through the exact steps to create your first Dataslayer query and move your data into GCS without hassle.

Step-by-step:

  • Log in to your Dataslayer account.

  • Navigate to the GCS Index area and click New transfer to create your first query.

1. Select the data source you want and log in to your Hub Account.

2. Choose the data source's accounts you want to get data from.

3. Select the configuration of your query, such as:

  • You will need to select a date range.
  • The metrics and dimensions you want to add.
  • Filters and options, if needed.

1. Choose GCS account/service account: authenticate with the Service Account by clicking on the "Connect with Service Accounts" button.

    2. Fill in all transfer details:
    1. Transfer name: This name will only be visible on Dataslayer.

    2. Timezone: Select your timezone. 

    3. File name: Select the name of the transfer that will be visible on GCS.

    4. Upload path: optional.

    5. Write mode: Select between append, upsert or replace (choose depending on your ETL logic).

3. Select Sync frequency between Schedule, Manually or Manually splitted options.

4. Finally, save your transfer.

    • For Schedule sync frequency, click on Save and the query will start executing at the time selected.
    • For Manually, click on Save & Refresh Now to save the transfer and run the transfer right away. Or click on Save and will only save the query in Dataslayer.
    • For Manually Splitted, click on Save and it will start in a few minutes. Go to your historical transfers in the index to see the status of your transfer.

That's it! You have inserted your data into Google Cloud Storage!

Preview data

If you want to see what the table you have created will look like, you can click on the Preview button to see it.

Note that this preview is limited to 200 rows.

This way, you can make modifications if you have detected any errors or if you want to change the order of the columns, before uploading the table into Google Cloud Storage.

The preview won't consume your monthly row limit.
