      What is 2FA in Dataslayer and how to activate it

      In this article, we'll explain what two-factor authentication (2FA) is in Dataslayer, why it improves your account security, and how to activate it easily from your browser.

      What is 2FA and Why Is It Important?

      Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security designed to protect your account from unauthorized access. Instead of logging in with just your email and password, 2FA requires a second step of verification, typically a code generated by an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Authy).

      Benefits of 2FA

      • Increased account security: even if someone gets your password, they can’t log in without your 2FA code.

      • Prevents unauthorized access from unknown devices.

      • Browser-based control: 2FA in Dataslayer is activated per browser, giving you full control over which devices are allowed.

      How 2FA Works in Dataslayer

      Dataslayer’s 2FA is powered by time-based codes from authentication apps like Google Authenticator, Authy, or any app that supports TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password).

      It is browser-specific, meaning you'll need to re-authenticate on each new browser or device.

      • If you clear your cookies or use incognito/private mode, 2FA will be requested again.

      How to set up 2FA in Dataslayer

      Follow these steps to activate two-factor authentication in your Dataslayer account and secure access from your current browser. The setup process only takes a few minutes and significantly increases the protection of your login.

      1. Log in to your account at app.dataslayer.ai.

      2. Open your account settings

      Click your user profile picture at the top right, and from the displayed menu, select the "Profile" section.

      3. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

      In there, you will find a green button labeled “Enable 2FA” and click on it, and then accept to enable the 2FA to navigate to the configuration site.

      4. Scan the QR code with your authentication app

      Open your authentication app (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy) and scan the QR code shown on the screen.

      The app will begin generating 6-digit codes every 30 seconds.

      5. Enter the current code to verify

      Input the 6-digit code currently shown in your app, and if correct, you’ll see a confirmation that 2FA is now active in the Dataslayer dashboard.

      If the device used is in your trust, you can check the option "Remember this device for 30 days".

      6. Done! 2FA is now enabled in that browser.

      The 2FA process is now required only on that specific browser/device, and you’ll need to authenticate again if using a different browser or computer.

      Important Notes

      • Browser-specific

        You’ll be asked for the 2FA code again on any new browser or device.

      • Cookies and sessions

        Clearing cookies or using incognito mode will trigger 2FA again.

      • Do not screenshot your QR code

        Always use a trusted mobile app to scan it.

      • Never share your 2FA setup code with anyone.

      How to Disable 2FA in Dataslayer

      If you no longer want to use two-factor authentication or are switching to a new device, you can easily disable 2FA from your account settings.

      Steps to disable 2FA

      2. Click the red “Disable 2FA” button and confirm that you want to disable the 2FA.

      3. 2FA will be removed from your account and all active sessions. A message confirmation will be displayed.

      How to delete MFA devices

      This is useful if you lose a device, switch computers, or want to maintain tighter control over who has access.

      In the same Profile section, you can also manage your authenticated devices.

      1. Click the blue button labeled “Manage MFA Devices”.

      2. This will show you a list of browsers/devices where you've completed 2FA.

      3. To revoke access to a specific device, click on the "Delete" button in the Actions column next to the device you want to remove.

      4. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the action. Proceed by clicking on "OK" to confirm.

      5. Once confirmed, a message will appear confirming that the device has been successfully removed, and it will no longer appear in the list.

      Common Issues and Troubleshooting

      Here are some frequently encountered issues when using 2FA, along with clear solutions to help you resolve them quickly.

      If you're having trouble accessing your account, review the following cases:

      Problem Fix
      Lost access to the authenticator app Contact us from the email associated with your Dataslayer account to reset your 2FA settings securely.
      Asked for 2FA every time I log in

      • Make sure you’re not using incognito/private browsing.

      • Avoid clearing cookies or using the same browser regularly.
      Got a new phone If you still have access to your account, disable 2FA and set it up again using the new device.
      QR code doesn’t scan Use the secret key provided below the QR code and enter it manually in your authentication app.
