How secure is my data with the Dataslayer AI Chat?

Learn how the Dataslayer AI Chat keeps your marketing data safe: powered by Google Gemini, fully internal, with credentials that never leave Dataslayer.

Short answer: Yes. The Dataslayer AI Chat is an internal Dataslayer service. Your marketing data stays inside Dataslayer's infrastructure, your credentials are never shared with any language model, and the only external traffic is the call to Google Gemini, which is covered by Google's enterprise-grade data governance commitments.

What the Dataslayer AI Chat is

The Dataslayer AI Chat is the conversational assistant built into app.dataslayer.ai. You ask questions about your marketing data and it returns answers, tables, or charts.

Under the hood, the AI Chat uses Google Gemini to interpret and resolve your queries. The chat itself is a Dataslayer-managed service running inside our own infrastructure, it is not a third-party app connected to your account.

How it works, step by step

  1. You ask a question in the Dataslayer AI Chat.
  2. Dataslayer's internal service prepares only the information required to answer that question (e.g. account name, date range, metric).
  3. That minimal prompt is sent to Google Gemini over an encrypted connection.
  4. Gemini returns the response, Dataslayer renders it for you.

At no point are your marketing platform credentials (Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4, LinkedIn Ads, TikTok Ads, etc.) or your Dataslayer login credentials sent to Gemini.

What Gemini sees vs. what it doesn't

Gemini receives:

  • The minimum information required to resolve your query (e.g. "CPA for campaign X last week", account name, date range).
  • The query results that must be summarized or formatted into the answer.

Gemini never receives:

  • Your Dataslayer login credentials.
  • Your marketing platform credentials or API keys.
  • Raw data, rows, or PII beyond what's strictly needed to answer the question.
  • Anything outside the scope of the current question.

Google's AI/ML privacy commitments apply to this traffic, including encryption in transit and the commitment not to use your data to train Google's models without your permission. Full details: How Gemini for Google Cloud uses your data.

Security protections

  • Encryption in transit via industry-standard HTTPS/TLS, both between your browser and Dataslayer and between Dataslayer and Google.
  • ISO 27001 & ISO 27701 certifications (audited by Bureau Veritas).
  • Scoped, read-only access. The AI Chat can only read the accounts you already have access to in Dataslayer.
  • No credential sharing with Google or any other third party.
  • Google's enterprise data governance for all Gemini traffic.

You control your data

  • The AI Chat does not need to be "revoked." Unlike an external integration, the AI Chat is an internal Dataslayer service, so there is nothing external to disconnect. Your data already lives in Dataslayer; the AI Chat simply queries it on your behalf.
  • Choose what to share. You decide which accounts and data sources are connected in Dataslayer, and the AI Chat can only see those.
  • Standard Dataslayer data rights apply. You can request deletion or export of your account data through your Dataslayer account settings.

Data residency

Your data resides within Dataslayer's infrastructure. The only external hop is the Gemini call, which is governed by Google's documented privacy and security commitments.

If your organization requires full data residency control (data never leaving your own environment), use Dataslayer MCP with a local / self-hosted LLM instead, see the MCP FAQ below.
