Understanding Meta's new version: Metrics and Dimension changes

Meta has upgraded to its new version 18, and with it has made changes to several metrics and dimensions. In this article we will explain these metric changes in more detail.

You may have seen the following error message when using one of our Meta connectors.

This is because Meta in its new version has updated its list of metrics and dimensions, adding new metrics and eliminating others, which makes them obsolete.
The error appears when selecting one of the metrics that has become obsolete because it has been removed from the new version.

Important information

Meta is adding the new metrics gradually. Over time, new metrics will replace obsolete metrics.

So it may happen that the new metric you are looking for is not yet available in the API and therefore we cannot add it to Dataslayer. As well as some obsolete metrics may still be usable until an unspecified time.

How to fix the error message

  1. The first thing you must do is remove the metric or dimension indicated by the error message. As the message itself explains, the metric is no longer available in the new version and, therefore, no information can be obtained from it. Just delete the metric and the query will work correctly.
  2. If you need to add similar information to that metric or dimension to the report, in the error message itself you will see a link that takes you to the Meta support. In the link you can search for the metric you have tried to add and you will be able to find out if there is an alternative metric for what you are looking for.
  3. In case THERE IS an alternative, try searching for it in Dataslayer.
  • If you find the metric or dimension in Dataslayer, you will be able to use it and continue working normally.

If you are using Looker Studio, don't forget to refresh the fields to update the list of connector metrics and dimensions.

  • If you do not find the metric or dimension in Dataslayer, it is possible that we have not yet added it or it is not yet available in the API.

Contact us via chat or email, and send us images of the obsolete metric or dimension and the new alternative. Once we have the information, we will inform you if it is not yet available or we will add it as soon as possible.

Please note that if the metric is not yet available we must wait for Meta to add it in their API.
